Living for others

Watched a doco the other day about a woman from Ghana who migrated to Germany. She's a trained computer technician but can only get a job in Germany as a toilet attendant..so basically monitors people going in and out of the toilets and cleans it periodically during the day.

This woman saves every penny she has to support an orphanage for urban, poverty stricken kids in Ghana. She goes into slum areas that she grew up in and selects kids she believes have the potential to excel in school and takes them to live in the orphanage which she supports. She pays for their board, schooling, food and books in the hope they will overcome their poverty and gives them the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

One girl she selected was doing so well in her studies she skipped a grade and is diligently studying in the hope of becoming a doctor. They took her back to the slum area to tell her parents the good news and they were just crying and crying and thanking the woman for doing what they could not. They said they couldn't give her much to show their thanks but asked if they could pray for her and ask God to bless her.

I was so amazed and inspired by this womans selflessness, if a toilet attendant can launch people into purpose imagine what a community of able people who have so much more to offer can do....hhhmmm the possiblities are endless.
